Many thanks to those of you who have made the trip to Evanston or Lansing to enjoy our restaurants following the closing of our original Hyde Park location. We’d like to remind you all that we have remodeled the back room of Calypso Café and are now offering many of the Dixie Kitchen favorites as well as Calypso’s authentic Carribean fare. Calypso Cafe is located directly across the footbridge from the Harper Court Dixie Kitchen location at 5211 S. Harper Ave. Although we were forced to close our original location of Dixie Kitchen and Bait Shop at Harper Court in Hyde Park, this unfortunate decision was not made due to a lack of business. Business was always booming in Hyde Park, and has also been great at our other three locations: Dixie Kitchen in Evanston, Calypso Café in Hyde Park, and Dixie Kitchen in Lansing! Calypso Café will remain in business in Harper Court until the end of our lease in the spring of 2012. Unfortunately we were not given the opportunity to renew our Harper Court leases as this property is being redeveloped by the University of Chicago, but we will keep you informed about future plans to keep our popular restaurants going strong on the south side of the city for years to come!
